MORRIS – The Morris Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who was allegedly caught on camera burglarizing a Morris gun shop overnight Monday.

Police responded just before 3:45 a.m. Tuesday to B & S Firearms, 534 Bedford Road, Morris, for a burglar alarm and found the business had been forcibly entered, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. The post included a photo of what appears to be a man stealing firearms from the business.

An estimated $1,200 of merchandise was taken, store owner Chad Both said. A side window toward the back of the building was broken as well.

Both said the store had never been broken into before this incident.

“All I can do is thank Morris PD for their great response,” Both said. “They were here in less than 15 seconds.”

He also said that the man breaking the window triggered the store’s security system and the police response. The shop will be open Tuesday.

Anyone who might have information about the man pictured or the incident in general is asked to call Morris police at 815-942-2131.
