Grundy County Sheriff's Office receives donation

MORRIS – The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that it received a $1700.00 donation from the ONEOK Foundation. The office said the donation would go towards the purchase of an automated external defibrillator.

"The new AED will be replacing an older unit that was pulled out of service at the Grundy County Courthouse," the press release on the sheriff's office Facebook page read.

According to the press release, the American Heart Association reports sudden cardiac arrest kills more people every year than strokes, AIDS and breast cancer, and a key to fighting it is defibrillation within a very short period of time from the onset of arrest.

“Having an AED on each floor of the courthouse allows greater accessibility for use should an emergency cardiac situation arise. The Sheriff’s Office is extremely grateful to ONEOK for their generosity and for their contributions to Grundy County.” said Grundy County Sheriff Kevin Callahan.
